Job summary

Halifax Health seeks an Equipment Technician for the Clinical Decision Unit. The role includes clerical duties, equipment upkeep, and assisting staff to maintain a safe patient environment.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED and AHA BLS certification; knowledge of medical terminology or unit secretary training is preferred, with orientation completed and competency checked.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Successful completion and maintenance of AHA BLS.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and/or unit secretary certification preferred.
• Healthcare experience in supply, equipment tech, nursing aide, or OR tech preferred.
• General Orientation and unit Orientation and specific competency checklists completed.

Responsibilities

• Enter physician orders into the computer accurately with correct patient identifiers.
• Prioritize unit needs and monitor alarm activity on assigned unit.
• Admit, discharge and transfer patients appropriately and timely.
• Maintain and supply unit equipment and chart forms; coordinate with Biomedical.
• Greet patients and staff courteously; assist with transport and basic patient care duties.
