Job summary

UA Health Services Foundation is seeking a Clinical Educator, OWS to develop and oversee a comprehensive training program for procurement transplant coordinators. You will coordinate initial and ongoing training, assess clinical competencies, and collaborate with Education & Training Leadership and OWS Leadership to ensure programs meet evolving regulations.

  • Knowledge of policy, procedure and regulatory issues governing organ procurement.
  • Experience in precepting or supervising staff is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate a procurement transplant coordinator training program.
  • Lead initial, ongoing and annual training and competencies for PTCs with input from Education & Training and OWS Leadership.
  • Assess, develop and present clinical competencies for clinical and non-clinical staff involved in donation services.
  • Update education programs and advise OWS leadership on policy changes and regulatory requirements.

Job Description

The Clinical Educator, Organ Work System (OWS) oversees the development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of a procurement transplant coordinator (PTC) training program through LOH’s donation service area. This individual will facilitate initial, on-going and annual training/competencies for all PTCs with input from Education & Training Leadership and OWS Leadership. In conjunction with Education and Training and the OWS leadership teams, this individual will be responsible for the assessment, evaluation, development and presentation of clinical competencies and training as needed for other clinical and non-clinical staff such as partner services staff, family support coordinators/donation advocates, clinical response coordinators, and donation support coordinators. The Clinical Educator, OWS will routinely assess and update the PTC education programs and provide guidance to OWS leadership regarding OPO policies to ensure they meet the needs of OWS staff and reflect changes in industry, federal, state, and local regulations, standards, or practices.

Qualifications

Required: Minimum two years’ experience as a procurement transplant coordinator, clinical response coordinator, perfusion coordinator, or other clinical-based position within an OPO, who can demonstrate competence performing the processes of referral response, authorization, donor management, organ allocation, surgical recovery, and import allocation. In lieu of clinical experience within an OPO, must possess a minimum of three years’ experience as an RN, CRNP, PA, or MD within an ICU unit. Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office applications to include Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Preferred: Bachelors level education in a clinical or healthcare-related field of study. Appropriate professional licensure related to degree. Knowledge or experience with policy, procedure, and regulatory issues governing organ procurement. Prior preceptor or supervisory experience.

Certified Procurement Transplant Coordinator. Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured.
