Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Clinical Professional Development Specialist to deliver clinical education curricula and oversee staff orientation at UPMC Community Osteopathic in the Central PA region.

The role focuses on ongoing education for clinical staff, ensuring high-quality patient care and a superior patient experience, with flexible, autonomous work in a team setting. RN licensure and teaching experience are required/preferred as noted.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience required.
• Relevant teaching experience preferred.
• RN licensure required; CPR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops and maintains productive working relationships internally and externally by mentoring and supporting frontline clinical staff.
• Conveys information clearly through a variety of media to individuals or groups to engage and inform.
• Mentors new clinical staff and preceptors to ensure successful onboarding.
• Responsible for unit-based onboarding and orientation.
• Teaches staff how to manage patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and discharge.
• Serves as a resource for patients and staff and promotes patient education needs.
• Participates in department Performance Improvement projects and professional organizations.
• Develops coaching and feedback skills to support UPMC Experience initiatives; may train outside standard hours.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
