Job summary

UPMC Lititz is seeking a Clinical Professional Development Specialist to lead the education program for surgical services, including Perianesthesia and Operating Room staff in the inpatient setting.

The role emphasizes mentoring, onboarding, and ongoing staff development to ensure high-quality patient care and a strong UPMC patient experience. Requires clinical experience and teaching aptitude in a flexible, team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience required.
• Relevant teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops and maintains productive relationships with frontline clinical staff.
• Conveys information clearly to individuals or groups to engage and educate.
• Mentors new clinical staff and preceptors for success.
• Responsible for unit-based onboarding and orientation.
• T each staff how to manage patient care, assess, plan, implement, evaluate and discharge.
• Serve as a resource for patients, nursing staff and other disciplines.
• Participate in Performance Improvement projects.
• Engage in professional and community organizations.
• Develop coaching and feedback to support Patient Experience initiatives.
• Training during non-traditional hours may be required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
