Job summary

SYSTEM West Virginia University Health System is seeking a CDI Education and Compliance lead to plan, develop, and implement clinical documentation education programs for providers and staff in inpatient and outpatient settings.

The role emphasizes mentorship of the CDI Specialists team, data-driven education improvements, and ensuring CMS/payer compliance with coding and documentation standards. Strong experience in education and auditing is required.

Qualifications

• Must have RHIT/RHIA or RN or LPN.
• Must have CDIP or CCDS within 1 year of hire.
• RN or LPN licensure required with inpatient experience or RHIT/RHIA with inpatient coding experience.
• Preferred CCDS-O credential.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and implement clinical documentation education programs for providers and staff.
• Provide ongoing education on documentation guidelines, regulations, and chart review functions.
• Mentor CDI Specialists team; develop apprenticeship/orientation programs.
• Analyze data to identify areas for provider education improvement.
• Ensure CMS and payers documentation compliance; participate in regular quality audits.
