Position Overview

The Clinical Director provides strategic leadership to Urban Resource Institute’s clinical staff and across its four program departments: Domestic Violence Residential Programs, Homeless Families Residential Programs, Justice Initiatives, and QIET. The CD is responsible for overseeing and providing clinical training, supervision, and policy direction; accepted standards for best-practice service delivery; and administrative and documentation criteria. In addition, the CD is responsible for ensuring oversight of licensing regulations, legal and ethical regulations, and quality assurance. The CD will serve as a thought leader and provide consultation to all programs where clinical services are provided.

Salary: $90,000-95,000

Major Duties And Responsibilities

CLINICAL LEADERSHIP

  • Serves as a member of the Senior Program Leadership Team and works collaboratively across program leadership to ensure anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, and client-centered clinical philosophy, practice, operations are integrated and functioning well
  • Provides trauma-informed leadership for URI, spearheading and supporting initiatives to improve our organizational climate and work culture including living out our social work values of service, social justice, dignity and worth of individual, importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence
  • Builds community of peer leaders co-creating equitable learning spaces that foster inclusivity and opportunity for leadership development in trauma-informed care at every level of the organization; host community groups
  • Partner with People & Culture to develop a flexible pipeline throughout the organization for clinical staff including via an internship program, to map career pathing for staff including for licensure for clinicians, and build out per diem and consultant clinical staff opportunities within programs
  • Partner with URI’s External Affairs’s policy and advocacy agenda
  • Serve as liaison with university partners, mental health departments, community agencies, and other key stakeholders

CLINICAL MANAGEMENT AND SUPERVISION

  • Leads Clinical Institute Leadership Team (CI-LT) across the agency as well as Clinical Institute champions, survivor advisory group members, and external partnerships
  • Leads on standardization of clinical positions, clinical supervision structure, roles and responsibilities, supporting accountability across sites
  • Ensures best practices and the most effective clinical approaches (e.g., strengths-based approach, motivational interviewing, restorative circles, affective support groups, CBT, DBT, somatic modalities, internal family systems, lateral mentorship) are utilized across programs
  • Oversees training strategy of clinical and trauma-informed care topics including CEU courses and execution in partnership with QIET and alongside URI’s Learning Management System, Auzmor
  • Monitors regulatory and clinical standards; productivity and quality assurance efforts; meet contractual reporting requirements and performance standards
  • Builds manual for clinical roles, administrative, and documentation; provide updates, and maintains URI’s policies and procedures as it relates to all clinical program operations
  • Oversees clinical supervision of clinical staff across programs as well as interns; facilitate group supervision for LCSW candidates; launch supervision of supervision group for LCSWs
  • Assist program leaders by providing regular feedback/guidance ensuring organizational policies and practices are maintained
  • Assist with troubleshooting summary of clinical services database/progress notes issues; ensuring that all clinical notes are appropriately documented into the database
  • In partnership with Associate Vice President of Justice Initiatives and Senior Director of Clinical Services, monitor equity metrics for staff and client satisfaction including inclusion, lower vacancy rates for clinical positions, increase promotion and retention rates for clinical staff, service access and outcomes as well as client satisfaction
  • Implement in partnership with QIET TIC evaluation yearly, develop and monitor target to actuals
  • Oversees capacity building and training efforts in partnership with QIET, promoting career growth and professional development for all clinical team members
  • Facilitates critical incident reviews and staff debriefings

SPECIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

  • Masters in related field required such as social work, counseling, or psychology with active license in New York State
  • Required licenses: LCSW, LCPC, or Licensed Psychologist

Required Skills And Experience

  • Passion for URI’s mission, vision and core values with the ability to communicate this passion to others.
  • 5 years’+ supervisory experience working in clinical settings, skilled in training, coaching, mentoring clinical staff
  • 10 years+ experience in providing direct clinical services
  • Experience integrating trauma-informed care within programming and team development
  • Strong commitment to equity and social justice including a focus on self-awareness and engagement of continuous learning around issues of diversity, equity and inclusion; high level of Emotional Intelligence (EQ)
  • Project management skills and experience, especially in projects requiring significant resources and cross-functional involvement
  • Exceptional interpersonal and flexible communications skills, and the ability to develop positive and productive relationships with a dispersed and diverse team

SPECIFICATIONS FOR WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The work location involves regular travel across program sites located in across all five boroughs and Westchester; the Director’s office is located at URI’s Central Office in the Grand Central area
  • The work environment varies given work location but generally is bright and medium in environmental noise, medium in work-pace, and high in work volume and diversity of initiatives/tasks
  • Work schedule includes three days working in the office or across URI program sites and two days working from home with potential to increase days working in office depending on organizational needs; flexibility is required to meet on-site demands throughout the week
