Job summary

Community Residences, Inc. (CRi) is seeking an experienced Clinical Director to provide strategic and operational leadership for our mental health programs in Chantilly, Virginia.

You will supervise Program Managers and clinical staff, ensuring high-quality care, regulatory compliance, workforce management, and sound fiscal performance. Qualifications

• Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, behavioral health, healthcare administration, or related field.
• Active clinical license required for oversight of mental health programs.
• At least five years of progressive supervisory/management experience in behavioral health or a related healthcare environment.
• Experience overseeing mental health residential programs or group homes preferred.
• Knowledge of Medicaid/Medicare billing and reimbursement requirements.
• Strong written communication, public speaking, analytical, and organizational skills.

Community Residences, Inc. (CRi) is a mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to supporting individuals with mental health needs and developmental disabilities. We are seeking an experienced Clinical Director to provide strategic and operational leadership for our mental health programs and services.

The Clinical Director will supervise Program Managers and clinical staff while ensuring high-quality care, regulatory compliance, effective workforce management, and sound fiscal performance across assigned programs.

What You’ll Do

Clinical and Operational Leadership

• Provide leadership and oversight for assigned mental health programs and services.
• Supervise, coach, and evaluate Program Managers and other clinical leaders.
• Monitor clinical documentation, service plans, admissions, discharges, and treatment processes to ensure quality and continuity of care.
• Conduct program visits, audits, and performance reviews to maintain accountability and service quality.
• Ensure programs are appropriately staffed with qualified and competent employees.
• Oversee staff orientation, training, continuing education, and professional development.
• Respond effectively to clinical emergencies and operational concerns.

Quality and Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure programs comply with applicable licensing, regulatory, contractual, and professional practice standards.
• Develop and oversee corrective action plans resulting from internal audits, investigations, complaints, and external reviews.
• Review performance data and implement measurable improvements in program quality, safety, and outcomes.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA, confidentiality requirements, and CRi policies and procedures.

Financial and Workforce Oversight

• Monitor program budgets, expenditures, staffing plans, and FTE utilization.
• Promote the responsible and efficient use of organizational resources.
• Support program budgeting, billing, reimbursement, and financial compliance.
• Ensure required financial and operational reports are completed accurately and on time.

Collaboration and Community Engagement

• Serve as a key liaison with individuals served, families, funders, regulators, community partners, and public agencies.
• Collaborate with nursing, social work, behavioral services, recreation, nutrition, and other interdisciplinary partners.
• Represent CRi professionally in community and regulatory settings.
• Participate in program development, contract discussions, proposal writing, marketing, and fundraising initiatives as needed.

Requirements

What You’ll Bring

• Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, behavioral health, healthcare administration, or another related clinical field.
• Active clinical license required for oversight of mental health programs.
• At least five years of progressive supervisory or management experience in behavioral health, human services, or a related healthcare environment.
• Experience overseeing mental health residential programs or group homes strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in clinical supervision, program development, regulatory compliance, budgeting, community relations, and crisis intervention.
• Knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, HUD, or other applicable billing and reimbursement requirements.
• Strong written communication, public speaking, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Ability to address complex and sensitive clinical and operational matters calmly and professionally.
• Ability to travel between program locations as needed.
