Job summary

SCAMHC in Alabama seeks a Clinical Director to provide administrative and clinical leadership across mental health, intellectual disabilities, substance use, and CCBHC services in our four-county area.

You will supervise staff, ensure compliance with Alabama DMH, CCBHC, Medicare, and Medicaid, and collaborate with community providers to deliver coordinated, person-centered care.

Qualifications

Position Overview:

We are seeking a qualified and experienced professional to serve as Clinical Director. This position provides administrative and clinical leadership across the Center’s mental health, intellectual disabilities, substance use, and Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) services.

The Clinical Director oversees clinical services and helps ensure compliance with Alabama Department of Mental Health, CCBHC, Medicare, Medicaid, and other applicable standards. This position also provides consultation, direction, and supervision to administrative and clinical staff while supporting the delivery of coordinated, integrated, person-centered services throughout the Center’s four-county service area.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, psychiatric nursing, or a closely related field.
• Current professional license in the applicable discipline.
• At least three years of relevant clinical experience following completion of the master’s degree.
• Three or more years of supervisory-level administrative experience in a community mental health setting.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care, person-centered treatment planning, and evidence-based practices preferred

Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and oversight for clinical services across mental health, substance use, and CCBHC programs
• Supervise and support clinical and administrative staff to promote effective, person-centered, trauma-informed, and recovery-focused care
• Direct the Center’s Quality Assurance/Improvement activities and support ongoing evaluation of clinical services and outcomes
• Ensure clinical programs comply with Alabama Department of Mental Health, CCBHC, Medicare, Medicaid, and agency requirements
• Promote coordinated, integrated care and collaboration among multidisciplinary teams within the CCBHC care model
• Review treatment plans, participate in clinical staffing, and provide consultation regarding complex clinical and administrative matters
• Establish and monitor clinical quality, productivity, documentation, and performance standards
• Assist with staff development, in-service training, and activities that support professional growth and clinical competency
• Collaborate with community agencies, healthcare providers, funding sources, consumers, families, and other stakeholders
• Advise and act on behalf of the Executive Director regarding clinical and administrative matters, as needed
• Support continuity of care and effective connections among Center programs, healthcare providers, and community resources
• Participate in rotating after-hours emergency coverage and perform other duties based on the Center’s operational needs

Requirements

ALL candidates must be able to type and have basic computer skills, possess a valid driver’s license, eligibility for coverage under center liability insurance and individually held vehicle liability insurance with a clear background check.
