Job summary

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship required; non-citizens only per VA policy.
• Must be registered Dietitian (RDN or RD) with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
• GS-11 level requires at least one year of experience as an RDN or equivalent.
• Demonstrated KSAs: patient care using the NCP; evidence-based nutrition practices; development of patient-centered goals; data analysis; collaboration with stakeholders; and compliance with accrediting authorities.

Responsibilities

• Primary assignment includes a mix of inpatient and outpatient care.
• Coordinate nutritional care of Veterans with health care providers, the Veteran, the caregiver, and the community.
• Perform comprehensive nutrition assessments using the Nutritional Care Process (NCP) and establish nutrition diagnoses.
• Develop and implement Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) and monitor outcomes.
• Document MNT in the medical record using ADIME; maintain accurate daily records.
• Use virtual care technology to improve access to care.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and educate patients and groups.
• Ensure compliance with accrediting standards and continuous quality improvement.
• Collaborate with the Food Operations Section and leadership to enhance dining experiences for Veterans.
• May perform other related duties as assigned.
