Position Overview

This position works with the medical team to provide optimal medical nutrition therapy to all patients, including infants, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics. It involves collaborating with other department members to improve food service and quality of care.

Minimum Qualifications

Education, Certification, and/or Licensure:

1. Registration with the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics.
2. Licensure through the West Virginia Board of Licensed Dietitians, or applicable state licensure where services will be performed.
3. State criminal background check, and federal if applicable, as required for state department of health regulated areas based on physical work location.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience:

1. One year of clinical experience.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

The responsibilities include providing high-quality medical nutrition therapy, completing and documenting consultations, assessments, and follow-ups, collaborating with physicians and staff, supervising team members, and participating in educational activities. Specific tasks involve diet calculations, documentation, patient education, and participation in meetings and conferences.

Physical Requirements

Frequent walking, sitting, and standing are necessary.

Work Environment

Majority of work in patient care units with some office and community activities.

Skills and Abilities

Ability to follow instructions, basic math and computer skills, adaptability to work volume changes, flexibility to work on weekends and holidays, and positive interaction with team members and patients.

Additional Responsibilities

Includes conducting patient visits, providing counseling, managing chronic conditions, developing treatment plans, staying current with research, facilitating education, and participating in team meetings.
