Job description

Jefferson County Department of Health is seeking a well-qualified, motivated Clinical Dentist to diagnose and provide dental treatment. This includes:

1. Performing an initial assessment of patients by collecting health-related information, conducting X-rays, examining teeth, etc.
2. Performing a variety of dental procedures such as cleanings, cavity treatments, extractions, root canals, and crown placements.
3. Following up with patients after advanced procedures and conducting examinations, including taking impressions and administering medications or additional treatments.
4. Supervising staff, including assigning and reviewing work, scheduling, making hiring recommendations, and training.
5. Maintaining professional standards and assisting in training and education of students during their rotations.
6. Serving on boards or committees to support agency initiatives and goals.

Jefferson County Department of Health offers competitive pay and benefits, including medical and dental insurance, a pension plan, paid holidays, sick leave, vacation, and more. The salary range is:

$125,403.20 - $194,542.40

Minimum qualifications include:

1. Licensure to practice dentistry in Alabama or successful completion of a regional board exam recognized by the Alabama State Dental Examiners as a senior dental student. Evidence of exam completion and licensure must be provided prior to employment.
2. Experience with electronic dental records software (e.g., Dentrix, EagleSoft), including recording clinical notes, charting, and coding.
