Job summary

Michigan Medicine’s Bohnert Lab in the Department of Anesthesiology seeks an Analyst for the COMPASS project to manage diverse data sources, perform programming and analyses on EHR, wearable and survey data.

You will link data sources, help select analytical methods, and summarize results using SAS, R, and other tools. The ideal candidate works independently on multiple projects, communicates clearly in English, and is eager to learn causal inference and advanced statistics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in statistics/biostatistics or related field.
• At least 3 years of related experience.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
• Proficiency with large datasets using statistical software (SAS preferred; STATA, SPSS, and R also acceptable).
• Experience with healthcare data.
• Excel and PowerPoint for presentations.
• Clear technical documentation and results communication.
• Excellent English communication skills.
• Willingness to learn new statistical methods, including causal inference.

Responsibilities

• Write, test and implement programs to clean, manage, merge and analyze complex data sets.
• Ensure data quality through programmatic methods.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation of data and analyses.
• Participate in discussions on analysis and data collection improvements.
• Develop and draft analysis plans.
• Independently conduct data analyses.
• Perform power calculations and estimate sample size.
• Assist in manuscript writing.
• Collaborate with team to define questions and apply appropriate statistical methods.
