Qualifications

• Must have direct clinical data abstraction experience within the MBSAQIP registry in the past year.
• Active MBSCR certification.
• Exposure to multiple patient medical record systems (EMRs) and clinical databases.
• Intermediate proficiency with MS Office (Microsoft Excel).
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with systematic data synthesis.
• High standards for accuracy and attention to detail.
• Technical savvy and eagerness to learn new systems and technology.
• Thrives working independently and takes ownership of projects.
• Clear communication with hospital partners, peers, and leads.
• Strong time management and ability to adapt to shifting timelines.
• Maintains PHI security and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Categorize, code, summarize, interpret, and calculate registry/case information from patient medical records.
• Ensure high-accuracy submissions to registries or data repositories.
• Prioritize and meet tight deadlines across multiple tasks and requests.
• Navigate EMR and registry entry tools; troubleshoot system issues.
• Contribute to data dictionaries, abstraction guidelines, and process improvements.
• Stay updated on regulatory/public data requirements.
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
