Job summary

Mental Health Association seeks a full-time clinical co-responder to join the Morris County Clinical Co-Response Team. Be a part of the team that makes a difference in the lives of our consumers. Shift Time Available: Monday through Friday from 3PM – 11PM.

The role involves providing co-response with police, crisis intervention, and linkage to community services across Morris County, NJ. Requires a Master’s Degree and a professional license; NJ driver’s license is mandatory.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree and a license in Social Work or Counseling required.
• LPC/LCSW preferred; LAC or LSW considered with 1–2 years of experience.
• Must have a valid NJ driver’s license and a good driving record.
• Knowledge of Morris County resources helpful.
• Ability to provide effective crisis response and de-escalation as related to community mental health/justice involved individuals.
• Able to collaborate effectively with responding officers to provide support and resources in Morris County.

Responsibilities

• Provides co-responding efforts to identify mental health and crisis response incidents in the community, in collaboration with the Police Departments within Morris County.
• Responding to calls in conjunction with Police Departments for cases in which a mental health concern is indicated, including but not limited to: mental health crisis, quality of life calls, wellness checks, and connection/linkage to community services.
• Ongoing collaboration with Police Departments within Morris County around appropriate training and education to support a shift towards better understanding of the social services lens and best practice regarding de-escalation approaches on calls.
• Developing systems for on-going follow up for community members in need of connections to social services that can enhance prevention of non-emergency calls and increase early intervention treatment access.
• Direct follow up with identified clients and collateral contacts as needed in order to facilitate access to appropriate services based on immediate client needs.
• Record keeping, reports, and documentation in accordance with program requirements.
• Being on-call and available to the Police Departments in Morris County during scheduled work hours via cell phone.
• Attending regularly scheduled meetings: supervision, agency meetings, and training(s) as assigned.
• Record keeping as required by funding sources through the electronic clinical record software, and/or accreditation agencies as required.
• Other duties as assigned by Program Director.
