Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health seeks a Clinical Chaplain to provide compassionate pastoral ministry to patients, families and staff. The role includes developing care plans, documenting in charts, and collaborating with the care team for patients facing crises and at end of life.

The chaplain will coordinate with clergy networks, participate in interdisciplinary rounds, and support staff wellness while upholding ethical and professional standards.

Qualifications

• Two units of Clinical Pastoral Education completed.
• Bachelor's degree in pastoral studies/theology/religious studies or related field.
• Endorsement by one's religious denomination preferred.
• Professional development in pastoral ministry or counseling.

Responsibilities

• Provides pastoral care and spiritual counseling to patients, families and team members during crises.
• Develops patient spiritual care plans and documents in medical records.
• Acts as liaison between family and clinical team during crises and end-of-life support.
• Collaborates with Palliative Care Team and attends team meetings.
• Conducts patient rounds to assess spiritual needs and assists in care planning.
• Coordinates local clergy and denominations for pastoral services.
• Leads training for pastoral care volunteers and staff.
• Maintains ethical standards and accurate medical documentation.
