Job summary

South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice seeks an experienced chaplain to serve as the primary clinical chaplain and pastoral caregiver for a DJJ secure facility. You will provide spiritual support to youth, families, and staff, while coordinating religious programming and volunteer involvement.

The role requires ordination and a Master of Divinity with clinical pastoral education, and you will work under the Director of Chaplaincy in a challenging correctional environment.

Qualifications

• Master of Divinity from an accredited theological school.
• Additional clinical pastoral education and/or work experience in a clinical pastoral setting.

Responsibilities

• Provides clinical pastoral care to youth, family, and staff.
• Organizes pastoral counseling and crisis visits.
• Plans religious programming including services, groups, and one-on-one counseling.
• Supports spiritual development volunteers and coordinates events.
• Mobilizes faith-based community to meet diverse beliefs.
• Provides and facilitates Critical Incident Services (CISM).
• Represents department in meetings and trainings.
