Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Corrections seeks a chaplain to organize, develop and monitor pastoral care for inmates within the institution. You will provide weekly worship, sacraments, and crisis counseling for individuals and groups, and coordinate with religious volunteers from diverse denominational and faith groups.

Qualifications

• The equivalent of a master of divinity degree from an accredited theological school, additional clinical pastoral education and/or work experience in a clinical pastoral setting.
• The equivalent of a master of divinity degree from an accredited theological seminary and ordination as a priest, minister or rabbi, with current ecclesiastical endorsement.
• One (1) year of clinical pastoral education approved by the association for clinical pastoral counselors, the American Association of Pastoral Counselors, the National Association of Catholic Chaplains, or the National Jewish Welfare Board, and two (2) years the equivalent of the mast.
