Job summary

The State of South Carolina, Department of Corrections, seeks a Chaplain to organize, develop, implement and monitor pastoral care for inmates, and to provide weekly worship, crisis counseling, and visitation.

You will collaborate with religious volunteers from diverse denominations, coordinate with institutional operations and staff, and complete four weeks of SCDC Basic Training after hire.

Qualifications

• Master of Divinity degree from an accredited theological school.
• Clinical pastoral education experience or equivalent.
• Ordination as priest, minister, or rabbi with ecclesiastical endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Organizes, develops, implements and monitors pastoral care for inmates.
• Provides weekly worship services and sacraments.
• Offers crisis counseling for individuals and groups.
• Coordinates with religious volunteers from multiple denominations and faith groups.
• Works with institutional operations, programs and administrative staff related to pastoral care and programs.
