The Barry Robinson Center in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Clinical Case Worker Supervisor to lead Foster Care Caseworkers, oversee clinical services, and ensure compliance with licensing standards. Qualifications

  • Master's degree in social work, sociology, psychology, counseling, or related field.
  • At least 3 years of casework experience with a Social Work degree.
  • At least 4 years of casework experience with a non-Social Work degree.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of child welfare regulations and documentation standards.
  • Supervisory or lead experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, and support to Foster Care Caseworkers.
  • Ensure casework services meet licensing standards and clinical plans.
  • Review and approve case documentation and reports for accuracy and timeliness.
  • Serve as a clinical resource to staff, children, and families throughout placement, treatment, and discharge.
  • Assist with crisis intervention, on-call coverage, and problem-solving related to placements and family needs.
  • Monitor caseloads, workload distribution, and service delivery to ensure quality outcomes and safety.
  • Support foster parents and staff to promote placement stability and positive outcomes.
  • Act as a liaison with juvenile/domestic relations courts, schools, referring agencies, and partners.
  • Participate in program development and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Our Foster Care program provides treatment, training, and homes for children in Hampton Roads, Virginia. Many of our families live in Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Newport News, and Hampton. As a Clinical Case Worker Supervisor, you would provide clinical, administrative, and operational supervision to Foster Care Caseworkers while maintaining responsibility for ensuring high-quality, clinically-informed case management services for children in care. This role is critical to ensuring compliance, safety, staff development, and positive outcomes for youth and families. As a leader within the Foster Care team, you will collaborate closely with internal leadership and external partners including courts, schools, families, and community agencies.

Salary Range: $63,000 - $80,000 + mileage reimbursement (Salary commensurate with clinical experience)

Qualifications
  • Master's degree (Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Counseling, Special Education, or related field)
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience providing casework services to children and families with a Social Work degree
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience providing casework services to children and families with a non-Social Work degree
  • Strong clinical background strongly preferred - experience with clinical assessment, treatment planning, and evidence-based intervention with children, adolescents, and families
  • At least one year of supervisory or lead experience strongly preferred
  • Previous Foster Care Case Worker experience highly preferred
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of child welfare regulations, best practices, and documentation standards
  • Knowledge of growth and development in children, adolescents, and developmentally disabled youth
Duties
  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, and support to Foster Care Caseworkers, including regular supervision meetings, case consultations, and performance feedback
  • Ensure casework services are delivered in accordance with licensing standards, clinical treatment plans, and organizational policies
  • Review and approve case documentation, clinical service plans, and reports to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
  • Serve as a clinical resource and support to staff, children, and families throughout placement, treatment, and discharge processes
  • Assist with crisis intervention, on-call coverage, and problem-solving related to placements and family needs
  • Monitor caseloads, workload distribution, and service delivery to ensure quality outcomes and child safety
  • Support foster parents and staff to promote placement stability and positive outcomes
  • Act as a liaison with juvenile and domestic relations courts, schools, referring agencies, and community partners
  • Participate in program development, clinical staff training, and continuous quality improvement initiatives
