Job summary

Georgetown University is seeking a Clinical Case Manager (Staff Clinician) for a permanent 12-month role within CAPS, reporting to the Clinical Director. The CCM will develop and staff a university-wide clinical case management system, conduct triage and assessments, coordinate brief interventions, and ensure proper referrals for students needing higher care.

The position requires an MSW, DC LICSW licensure, and 5–7 years of post-graduate experience in mental health case management.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in social work from an accredited program.
• Must possess clinical licensure with DC Department of Health (LICSW).
• 5–7 years post-graduate experience in mental health clinical case management/care management with complex systems.
• Excellent clinical skills and ability to make sound analytical/diagnostic determinations.

Responsibilities

• Perform triage, clinical assessments, brief intervention/bridged care, referral services and follow-up to students presenting with a wide range of mental health needs.
• Offer crisis intervention and risk assessment for students presenting with risk to self or others.
• Partner with university and local first responders in facilitating emergency mental health evaluations.
• Develops and maintains a community resource database across Georgetown University campus networks, serving as a referral source for resources that address various student needs.
• Establish and foster collaborative relationships with emergency departments, psychiatric inpatient units, and HLOC step down programs across DC.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information based on ethical and legal guidelines.
• Provide general consultation to faculty, staff, students, other university offices, and family members who may be concerned about a student’s well‑being or mental health.
• Participate in various committees, advisory groups, and mental health/wellness coalitions.

Job Overview

Georgetown University is seeking qualified applicants for the permanent 12-month position of Clinical Case Manager (Staff Clinician). Reporting to the CAPS Clinical Director, responsibilities include developing, implementing, monitoring, and staffing all aspects of a higher education clinical case management system. The clinical case manager will work closely with Georgetown University staff clinicians, Student Outreach and Support (SOS) staff members, and other staff and faculty to identify and assess higher risk students. The clinical case manager will provide brief intervention and/or bridged clinical care as needed while securing appropriate referrals for students requiring a higher level of care. Excellent interpersonal skills and experience in mental health consultation, including the ability to develop strong working relationships, positively represent counseling services across diverse communities and interact effectively with both health care professionals and nonprofessionals regarding student mental health concerns. Additional duties include, but are not limited to:

Work Interactions

The Clinical Case Manager (CCM) reports to the Clinical Director of the Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS). The CCM plays a central role in managing and providing bridged clinical care to students experiencing complex mental health concerns and mental health crises. The CCM will collaborate with other the other CCM, CAPS clinicians, Student Outreach and Support (SOS) staff, University staff and faculty, and community-based mental health providers. They will also participate in Care Team and Threat Assessment meetings involving student concerns and issues related to the University’s policies and procedures.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Master’s degree in social work
• Must possess clinical licensure with the District of Columbia Department of Health (LICSW)
• 5-7years post-graduate experience in providing mental health clinical case management/care management with complex systems.
• Excellent clinical skills and ability to make sound analytical/diagnostic determinations
• Demonstrated ability to provide high quality work without close supervision
• Proven track record establishing and maintaining effective working relationships both within the university and with outside agencies.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a college/university environment
• Community-based psychiatric experience

Pay Range

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is: $54,616.00 - $100,493.33. Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
