Job summary

Great Salt Plains Health Center is seeking a Clinical Assistant to join the medical team. The role involves preparing patients for providers, rooming and documenting assessments, and supporting the care team with clerical tasks.

You will collect vitals, screen vision, and communicate updates between front desk staff, nurses, and clinicians. The position emphasizes accuracy, confidentiality, and adaptability to changing workflows while assisting with clinic procedures and patient checkout.

Qualifications

• High School graduate.
• On-the-job training, previous experience preferred.
• Basic typing and computer skills and prior telephone experience.
• Ability to communicate clearly.
• Ability to work on more than one task at a time and flow fromone task to another smoothly.
• Ability to work through frequent interruptions and adaptable to change.

Responsibilities

• Getting patients ready for providers - rooming, creating orders, performing tasks as designated by the provider, updating med. list, input new meds.
• Obtains routine temperature, pulse, respiration, height, and weight as well as blood pressure readings at first encounter. Screens clients for visual acuity using Snellen method.
• Performs adequate documentation for the provider.
• Assists with clinic procedures.
• Responsible for performing visit prep for all patients, participating in care team huddles, and checking out patients, and scheduling follow-up visits.
• Assists providers during clinical visits by giving them 30-second reports in between patients.
• Maintains a current CPR card, and participates in education training offered at GSP Health, including online training courses.
• Exhibits a positive attitude and a commitment to the basic mission of the organization.
• Assumes responsibility for entering telephone encounters.
• Responsible for managing incoming and outgoing documents. Attaching documents, assigning appropriately, and faxing.
• Upholds and abides by patient confidentiality policies and procedures.
• Assists providers and staff in requesting patient records.
• Performs other duties incidental to the work described herein or as assigned by the Clinical Lead
