Job summary

Novant Health is seeking a patient-focused role in Mount Pleasant, SC to support physicians and nursing staff in a specialty clinic. You will room patients, document in Epic, manage calls and messages, schedule appointments, and assist with check-out.

This primarily administrative role requires no Medical Assistant certification and excludes injections or blood draws. Day-to-day duties include preparing patients for visits, updating histories, and coordinating referrals and registrations.

Qualifications

• High School or GED is required.
• 2 years acute experience for CNA 1 preferred.
• 1 year CNA2 or EMT preferred.
• 1 year healthcare setting or PA/medical student in accredited program or gap year between undergrad and clinical training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Room patients, obtain vital signs, update medical histories, and prepare patients for provider visits.
• Assist providers with examinations, screenings, and procedures within scope of practice.
• Perform point-of-care testing and document results.
• Maintain accurate patient records and support referrals, scheduling, registration, and check-out.
• Create a welcoming, patient-centered experience with compassionate communication.
• Collaborate with providers and team members to ensure efficient clinic operations and high-quality care.

What We Offer

This patient-focused role supports physicians, advanced practice providers, and nursing staff in delivering safe, high-quality care within a specialty clinic. Responsibilities include rooming patients, documenting patient information in Epic, managing phone calls and messages, scheduling appointments, and assisting with patient check-out. Similar to a Medical Assistant role, this position is primarily administrative with limited clinical duties and does not require Medical Assistant certification. No injections, EKGs, blood draws, or vital sign collection are required.

Location Details

• Location: 1625 Hospital Drive Mount Pleasant, South Carolina 29464
• Schedule: Full Time
• Shift: Monday - Friday 8AM until 4:30PM

What You'll Do

• Deliver exceptional patient care by rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, updating medical histories, and preparing patients for provider visits.

What We’re Looking For

• Education: High School or GED, required.
• Experience:
  • 2 years acute experience for CNA 1, preferred.
  • 1 year CNA2 or EMT, preferred.
  • 1 year Experience in healthcare setting or PA or Med student enrolled in an accredited program, individual in a gap year between undergraduate and completion and advanced clinical training, or candidate with a completed undergrad degree in medical, biological, health science, or related science field, preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: (required)
  • NA I in good standing within the NA registry; OR, required.
  • NA II in good standing with NA II certification with required state; OR, required.
  • EMT current credential in appropriate state; OR, required.
  • One year clinical (medical) office experience; OR, required.
  • Physician Assistant or Medical School student enrolled in accredited program or in gap year, required.
• Additional Skills/Requirements (required):
  • Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific skills validation and competency testing.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation.
