Job summary

GW MFA seeks a Medical Assistant to support ambulatory care by managing patient flow, informing physicians of arrivals and room assignments, and assisting during exams.

Responsibilities include obtaining patient vitals with Welch Allyn devices, documenting results in the EMR, taking medical histories when needed, performing tests and screenings, and assisting with medication administration after demonstrated competency.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and MA program completion.
• Certification and registration as Medical Assistant.
• Current CPR/AED certification.

Responsibilities

• Manage clinic patient flow and inform physicians of arrivals and room assignments.
• Accompany and assist patients in the exam room professionally.
• Obtain patient vital signs including height, weight, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration; pulse oximetry if needed.
• Use manual equipment and Welch Allyn device to import results into EMR promptly.
• Assist physicians during examinations and procedures.
• May take patient medical history when applicable per department.
• May perform testing, diagnostic, and screening procedures.
• Explain test procedures to patients.
• Assist in medication administration after competency demonstration.
