Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health is seeking a Clinical Bed Manager to oversee patient admissions, discharges, and transfers across seven acute care hospitals. You will optimize bed occupancy, coordinate with ED, OR, and transfer teams, and lead bed management decisions with physicians and administrators.

The role requires nursing leadership, a CT RN license, and at least five years in clinical care with supervisory experience; strong communication and change-management skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing required; Masters preferred.
• Current CT RN Nursing license required.
• Minimum of five years clinical experience; leadership/supervisory/management experience required.
• Ability to direct and triage in a dynamic operational environment; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Be point of contact to communicate with physicians and nurses regarding admissions and bed availability.
• Implements and monitors hospital program philosophies, goals, and objectives to support throughput.
• Develop, implement, and monitor systems to trend census, acuity and staffing.
• Directs clinical management to assist with bed management processes.
• Collaborates with management to reduce barriers to efficient patient throughput.
• Ensure smooth bed management to reduce wait times and unnecessary patient transfers.
• Responsible for functions related to patient placement to inpatient and observation beds across seven hospitals.
