Job Summary:
Confers with appropriate professionals regarding patient care and management. Focuses on members/patients and their needs, developing and maintaining productive relationships. Actively seeks information to understand member/patient circumstances, problems, expectations, and needs. Builds rapport and cooperative relationships with members, patients, colleagues, and providers. Considers how actions or plans will affect members and healthcare, responds quickly to meet needs, and resolves problems.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Complies with all healthcare quality, safety, and emergency policies and procedures. Demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice. Ensures patient safety in medication administration, procedures, infection prevention, fall prevention, and uses two patient identifiers and procedural time outs. Reports safety hazards, accidents, incidents, and unsafe working conditions promptly.
- Measures hearing acuity using various audiometry techniques and assesses the auditory system's integrity through specialized testing.
- Assesses vestibular system function through electronystagmography, videostagmography, and vestibular evoked myogenic potentials.
- Provides counseling and training for vestibular disorders and participates in balance rehabilitation management.
- Determines candidacy for implantable devices like cochlear implants and bone-anchored hearing aids, providing comprehensive pre- and post-surgical assessment, counseling, and treatment.
- Prepares reports of diagnostic results and confers with healthcare professionals regarding patient management.
- Performs cerumen management.
- Counsels, dispenses, and troubleshoots hearing aids and assistive listening devices, including electroacoustic measures and soundfield testing.
- Provides tinnitus education, rehabilitation, and counseling, including testing for therapeutic device settings.
- Creates custom ear products for patients.
- Designs and coordinates industrial and community hearing conservation programs.
Education:
- Masters Degree or Doctoral Degree in Audiology (Au.D.)
Licenses and Certifications:
- Clinical Competence Certificate in Audiology from ASHA or Board Certification from the American Board of Audiology
- Colorado Audiologist License required at hire
- National Provider Identifier required at hire
