Job description

The Clinical Assistant is responsible for providing patient care in the clinic and related administrative duties.

This is a part-time (0.9 FTE) position working variable hours Monday through Friday at our Maple Grove, Plymouth, and Robbinsdale clinics. The role also includes various evening and weekend shifts within our Orthopedic Urgent Cares as needed.

Twin Cities Orthopedics is an operating division of Infinite Health Collaborative (i-Health), a group of local medical practices owned and led by physicians, with a mission to give patients more control over their healthcare.

Essential Functions:
  1. Prepare, stock, and clean exam rooms.
  2. Room patients and prepare for exams.
  3. Maintain an efficient, organized clinical flow.
  4. Gather and verify pertinent patient information; compile patient medical data.
  5. Assist with documentation of patient data into electronic health records system.
  6. Prepare for injections, change dressings, apply durable medical equipment, and remove sutures/staples under provider direction.
  7. Apply and remove casts.
  8. Ensure coding requirements are followed during entry of patient information.
  9. Act as a prescribing delegate to enter medical orders (e.g., medications, laboratory services, imaging studies) into the electronic records under provider supervision.
  10. Support multiple specialties.
  11. Assist with additional tasks such as:
  • Supporting Care Coordinator with patient care services.
  • Managing medical supply inventory and ordering.
  • Screening patient calls and documenting messages in the electronic chart.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Education and Experience Requirements:
    • High School diploma/GED or equivalent required.
    • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Certified Athletic Trainer (AT-C), or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA); or equivalent experience strongly preferred.
    • Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology required.
    • Knowledge of diagnostic procedures, pharmacology, and treatment assessments preferred.

    • Starting pay varies based on education, skills, and experience.
    • A $1,500 sign-on bonus is offered, payable on first paycheck with a 12-month commitment. Internal applicants are not eligible.

    Essential Requirements:
    • Complete the Certified Provider Order Entry (CPOE) upon hire if necessary.
    • Comply with company policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines.
    • Complete required training.
    • Follow applicable laws (e.g., HIPAA, Stark, OSHA).
    • Maintain prompt and reliable attendance.
    • Work during clinic hours and travel between locations as needed.
    • Be physically able to move around the clinic, including standing, bending, lifting, and sitting for long periods.
    • Work efficiently, handle interruptions, and meet deadlines.
    • Communicate professionally and respectfully.
    • Prioritize tasks and be flexible.
    • Apply logical thinking to solve problems.
    • Follow instructions and operate equipment effectively.
    • Work independently with minimal supervision.
