Job summary

TTUHSC in Amarillo, Texas seeks a Clinical Assistant or Clinical Assistant Trainee to support patient care management in an outpatient clinic. The role requires basic clinical skills, clerical duties, and supervision by a physician or nursing staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Graduation from an approved certified program for assistants is required.
• Certification by an approved accrediting agency in the specialty is required.
• Willingness to be enrolled in a certification program with a projected time frame.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties from the Head nurse and Office Manager.
• Use basic equipment (thermometer, BP cuff, scales, stethoscope) and more advanced devices such as an EKG.
• Possess knowledge and ability to perform CPR, give injections, follow directions, observe details and communicate effectively.
• Work with patients and help them understand and follow provider directions and clinic protocols.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent

Graduation from an approved certified program for assistants

Certification by an approved accrediting agency in the specialty

Enrollment in a certified program with time-frame completion
