Clinical Assistant Professor or Clinical Associate Professor

Position Details

Texas State University's St. David’s School of Nursing seeks a clinical nursing faculty at the Clinical Assistant Professor or Clinical Associate Professor level for a nine-month appointment, with summer employment. The role includes 50% Standardized Patient Coordinator duties for the Simulation Laboratories and 50% clinical faculty responsibilities.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and implement the standardized patient program, including recruiting, training, scheduling, and evaluating standardized patients.
  • Collaborate with nursing course coordinators for standardized patient encounters and student debriefings.
  • Participate in simulation and interprofessional events, supporting daily simulation activities.
  • Design and maintain instructor-led and Standardized Patient training classes and workshops.
  • Maintain the standardized patient space and supplies, coordinating with faculty and staff for events.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Master’s degree in nursing or related field with 12 hours of graduate nursing courses and five years of clinical experience as a registered nurse.
  • Eligible for RN licensure in Texas.
  • At least five years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Teaching experience in a professional nursing school or equivalent.
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching, demonstrated through a campus visit presentation.
  • Strong collegial relationships.

Preferred:

  • Current doctorate or enrollment in a doctoral program.
  • Experience in program development, curriculum design, simulation, and undergraduate nursing teaching.
  • Record of scholarly activities, grants, and service.
  • Experience with accreditation, program review, and assessment.
  • Nursing certifications or specialties.
  • Experience with online education and Standardized Patient programs.
  • Leadership qualities and experience in community engagement.
