Overview

Clinical Assistant, Clinical Associate or Clinical Professor, Palliative Care, on the Full Time Clinical Faculty pathway with an approximate 80:20 contribution to clinical service and academic pursuits.

The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) and the University of Washington (UW) are jointly recruiting a full-time clinical faculty member specializing in care of patients in palliative care. This position will be at the Clinical Assistant, Clinical Associate, or Clinical Professor level commensurate with experience and qualifications in the Clinical Research Division of the Fred Hutch and an appropriate Division at the UW depending on training and specialty.

Fred Hutch and UW faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. The position will focus primarily on ambulatory clinical care of patients receiving palliative care at a world-renowned comprehensive cancer center. The Palliative Care team is committed to providing outstanding patient care, advanced by cutting edge research trials. The position may also involve participation in the administrative, research, and instructional activities of the Clinical Research Division. Teaching responsibilities involve oversight of trainees during outpatient and inpatient clinical activities, and lectures. The position will be based at the South Lake Union main campus, but there is the possibility that the incumbent could see patients at one of Fred Hutch’s community clinics. Additionally, the selected candidate will be expected to recruit and care for trial patients.

The primary, annual appointment will be in the Clinical Research Division of Fred Hutch. The position will report to the Senior Vice President (SVP) of the Clinical Research Division at Fred Hutch and the Division Head of Hematology and Oncology.

Qualifications

QualificationsApplicants must have:

  • MD/DO degree (or foreign equivalent)
  • Board certification (or board eligibility for current fellows) in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. While individuals with primary training in internal medicine are preferred, applicants with other training may apply (e.g. family medicine, anesthesiology, rehabilitation, psychiatry, surgery, etc.). The successful applicant will be board certified (or board eligible for current fellows) in their primary area of training.
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in the state of Washington.

The ideal candidate has a record of and primary interest in palliative care.

The annual base salary range for this position is $268,156.00-$289,072.00 for faculty hired at the Clinical Assistant Professor rank, $297,074.00-$318,463.00 for faculty hired at the Clinical Associate Professor rank, and $327,279.00-$368,189.00 for faculty hired at the Clinical Professor rank. Pay for Faculty positions is based on a variety of factors, including degree, specialty, clinical practice and experience.

This position is eligible for relocation assistance and/or sign-on bonus.

Although Fred Hutch is not sponsoring most H-1B visas at this time, candidates who already hold an H-1B sponsored by another organization and are currently in the U.S. may be eligible for this position.
