Job summary

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Belton, TX is seeking a clinic support professional to provide patient care management and assist in clerical and clinical duties under supervision.

The role emphasizes medication administration support, vital signs, patient data reporting, exam room setup, infection control, and collaboration with providers to ensure efficient patient flow in the Bell County Jail setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Graduation from an approved certified program for assistants in the area of required specialty.
• Certification by an approved accredited certifying agency in the specialty that particular work will be performed.
• Experience with electronic health records and medication administration reporting systems (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Administers medications and documents as ordered in MAR.
• Measures and records vital signs and inputs data as ordered.
• Assists providers and nurses with examinations and minor procedures.
• Creates and updates clinic schedules to optimize patient flow.
• Prepares examination rooms and maintains clean, stocked clinical spaces.
• Documents patient care activities accurately and per standards.
• Supports infection control and safety practices, including PPE use.
• Performs other clinical duties as assigned.

Position Description

Employees in this classification provide patient care management to an assigned clinic in the areas of clerical and clinical duties. In the clinical setting, the employee receives direct supervision from a physician or nursing supervisor in either oral or written form. In the office setting, the employee receives direct supervision from the department administrator. Work is performed under usual office and clinic conditions located at the Bell County Jail in Belton, TX, and may be stressful when working under emergency conditions.

Major/Essential Functions

• Administers medications and documents as ordered. Adheres to facility policy and procedure for medication administration - Documentation of medication in MAR. Adheres to facility policies and procedures by utilizing the 5 rights of medication administration.


• Measure and record vital signs - Vital signs, blood sugars, and weights performed as ordered by the provider. Abnormal vital signs reported immediately. EHR entries completed immediately.


• Assist Providers and nurses with examinations and minor procedures - Competently assists with examinations and minor procedures. Maintains proper technique and infection control. Follows provider and nurse instructions accurately.


• Creates clinic schedules and provides patient data for reporting - Accurately manages and updates clinic schedules to ensure efficient patient flow. Provides timely and complete patient data for reporting.


• Prepare examination rooms, clean equipment and stock clinical supplies - Ensures exam rooms are clean, organized, and fully stocked. Cleans and disinfects equipment and surfaces.


• Document patient care activities accurately and in accordance with standards - Completes documentation promptly and accurately. Follows facility and clinical standards.


• Supports infection control and safety practices in all aspects of clinical work - Consistently follows infection control and safety protocols, including hand hygiene and proper PPE use. Identifies and reports potential hazards and maintains clinic safety.


• Other clinical duties as assigned - Willingly accepts and completes additional tasks as directed.

Required Qualifications

A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent. Graduation from an approved certified program for assistants in the area of required specialty. Certification by an approved accredited certifying agency in the specialty that particular work will be performed.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with health technology systems: electronic health records and medication administration reporting systems.
