Job summary

Medlinkhealth Anesthesia Associates seeks a qualified on-site ASL interpreter for scheduled clinical encounters at the Indian Health Center in Salem, OR. The role ensures clear communication for Deaf or Hard of Hearing patients during routine and specialized medical visits.

Position is PRN / per-appointment with hours during clinic operations. Current RID/NIC certification required, with minimum 2 years’ medical interpreting experience and fluency in ASL and English.

Qualifications

• Certification: RID, NIC, or equivalent (required).
• Minimum 2 years of professional ASL interpreting in medical/clinical settings.
• Fluency in ASL and English (native or near-native).
• Strong understanding of HIPAA, PHI protection, and medical ethics.
• Reliable transportation to Salem, OR and ability to pass background check.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate, impartial in-person ASL interpretation for scheduled clinical appointments.
• Interpret complex medical terminology, clinical discussions, treatment options, and provider instructions.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient privacy standards.
• Log and confirm assignment schedules with advance notice (72+ hours).
• Provide contingency VRI coverage when in-person interpretation is not feasible.
