Job summary

UCI Health, part of UC Irvine, in Irvine, CA, seeks a technical and functional leader to develop, upgrade, and support our enterprise clinical information systems. You will independently manage large Epic OpTime modules and related anesthesia build experiences while coordinating across Epic EMR modules.

Your Role on the Team

Position Summary

The incumbent acts as both a functional and technical leader in the development, upgrade, enhancement, and support of clinical information systems. The individual independently maintains and manages large modules of an enterprise clinical information system or department specialty system, facilitates decisions and work efforts that affect applications and patient care practices, and participates in the analysis and design of data communication links between systems.

Required Qualifications

• Working knowledge of perioperative workflows
• Understanding of Work Flow Engine Rule and Order Transmittal
• Understanding of Epic User Security
• Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
• Must have working knowledge of client/server systems, relational database structures and reporting tools
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
• Must be willing to participate in 24‑hour on‑call rotations as a system duty officer
• Minimum three (3) years of Epic OpTime / Anesthesia build experience
• Experience working with Epic EMR and its various modules
• Experience using/implementing/supporting an EMR in a hospital and/or ambulatory setting
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends
• Ability to self‑initiate and effectively problem‑solve issues
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
• Ability to function as a project leader and project member
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
• Ability to apply logical troubleshooting and analysis techniques for the purpose of problem resolution

Preferred Qualifications

• Project coordination / management experience
• Must possess a working knowledge of HL7 and other interface/integration strategies
• Knowledge of university and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
