Job summary

Ashland University’s Department of Nursing seeks a clinical adjunct staff member to support the competency-based BSN program and its students through teaching in clinical and lab settings. Job description

Clinical adjunct staff members assist the Department of Nursing under the leadership of faculty. The individual in this position is involved in the implementation and evaluation of the competency-based BSN program and its students. A clinical adjunct staff member is assigned to a BSN course(s) to teach the clinical or lab section(s). Clinical adjunct staff needs include: Long‑term care, Med‑Surg, Complex Care, Pediatrics, Maternity, and Mental Health.

Responsibilities
  • Support the mission of Ashland University and the College.

  • Maintain exemplary academic standards and pursue continued development as an educator.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and role modeling for students.
  • Function under the guidance of the Lead Faculty and communicate student clinical concepts and competencies to the student and clinical staff; orient students, make clinical assignments consistent with the specific competencies for the designated course; provide appropriate student supervision; evaluate the student’s achievement and progress relative to their clinical or laboratory competencies through formative and summative assessments.
  • Meet deadlines, attend meetings, complete compliance requirements, and work with staff, faculty, students, and the public.
  • Promote and maintain collaborative relationships between the college and clinical partners.
  • Demonstrate the College values of integrity, caring, accountability, respect, and excellence.
Qualifications
  • Completion of an approved registered nursing education program in a jurisdiction as defined in paragraph (S) of rule 4723‑5‑01 of the Ohio Administrative Code.
  • Current, valid licensure as a registered nurse in Ohio.
  • A baccalaureate degree in nursing or enrollment in a graduate level program for registered nurses to obtain a master’s or doctoral degree with a major in nursing.
  • Eligibility and willingness to begin an approved program of master’s study if not currently completed.
  • Official transcripts verifying academic preparation.
  • Experience for at least two years in the practice of nursing as a registered nurse.
Required Skills
  • Demonstrated beginning involvement in teaching.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Data entry and word processing skills.
Physical Demands

Requires the ability to work indoors in a moderately stressful environment and the ability to adapt to changes in workload. Physical requirements may include frequent sitting, walking, lifting, reaching, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
