Job summary

North Sunflower is seeking a Medical Assistant to support a provider in a rural health clinic in Sunflower, MS. You will document vital signs, chief complaints, and assist with patient flow and exams.

Responsibilities include room preparation, specimen collection, coordinating labs/x‑rays, and administrative tasks. A team‑oriented, proactive approach and CPR certification are required within 3 months.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED equivalent.
• Medical Assistant training.
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience assisting a nurse and a physician team.
• Strong team player.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• CPR certification is required within 3 months of employment and kept current.

Responsibilities

• Accurately document in the EMR all patient vital statistics and chief complaint.
• Respond promptly to patient concerns.
• Perform clinical tasks within scope as requested by the provider.
• Update patient medical records.
• Prepare exam rooms.
• Collect blood samples.
• Arrange for labs and x‑rays.
• Answer phones and schedule appointments.
• Monitor nursing supplies and restock weekly.
• Transport patients as needed.
• Respond to Shift Hound requests promptly.
• Return patient messages timely.
• Assist the nurse assigned to the provider.
• Notify patients after provider reviews results and directions.
• Schedule follow‑ups.
• Complete end of day tasks (HIPAA disposal, labs and calls).
