Job summary

Golden State Orthopedics & Spine in Oakland, CA seeks a Clinic Lead to oversee clinical operations and team coordination. Responsibilities include staff training, scheduling, KPI development, timecard verification, and supporting patient flow and care under physicians’ supervision.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of Medical Assistant experience in orthopedics, 1+ year of supervisory experience, CMA certification or equivalent, BLS/CPR, and strong EMR proficiency.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of Medical Assistant experience in an orthopedic or specialty clinic preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of supervisory or management experience leading clinical staff.
• Current CMA certification or equivalent experience.
• Current BLS/CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist in training new team members and support ongoing skill development through coaching and feedback.
• Facilitate communication between team and management and relay important feedback.
• Track team progress, ensure quality standards, and report on performance to leadership.
• Assist in scheduling for all Clinic staff and manage time-off schedules.
• Support patient care including scheduling, patient flow, and basic procedures as directed.

About the Role

• The Clinic Lead supports both clinical operations and team coordination by serving as the first point of contact for staff issues, assisting with scheduling, and facilitating communication between the team and leadership. This role helps train and coach staff, ensures quality standards are met, and contributes to patient care through hands‑on clinical support. The Clinic Lead also assists with evaluations, inventory management, and serves as a resource for new workflows and initiatives.

What You’ll Do

• Assisting in training new team members and supporting ongoing skill development through coaching and feedback
• Facilitating communication between the team and management, relaying important feedback and information
• Tracking team progress, ensuring quality standards are met, and report on performance to leadership
• Assisting with managing the schedules of all Clinic staff, including managing time off schedules and daily call outs.
• Assisting in the evaluation of all Clinic staff; participates in development of key performance indicators for each position
• Assisting with verification of timecard data with the direction of the Clinic Manager or Clinic Supervisor
• Patient care responsibilities as assigned, which may include scheduling and organizing patient flow, accompanying patients to exam/procedure room, assist patients with changing to exam gowns, and transfer to exam table if needed.
• Assessing patient’s general condition and collect patient history.
• Documenting health history, activities, medication dispensed/prescribed, etc., in the medical record
• Providing basic patient care as ordered by physician and assist physician with various procedures.
• Providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice/instructions to patient
• Wound dressing changes, preparing injections, suturing and staple removal, sterile tray set‑ups, and obtaining lab/x‑ray report
• Cleaning and stocking exam rooms
• Responsible for inventory and ordering medical supplies
• Adhering to infection control/safety guidelines and confidentiality policies
• Scheduling patient appointments, scheduling referrals to other physicians·
• Complying with HIPAA, OSHA and Red Flag Rule
• Acts a superuser for new business initiatives

What We’re Looking For:

• High school diploma or GED Certificate
• Lead or management experience
• Medical Assistant experience.
• 2 years in medical office
• CMA certificate or equivalent experience
• 3–5 years of Medical Assistant experience in an orthopedic or specialty clinic preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of supervisory or management experience leading clinical staff.
• Current Medical Assistant certification (preferred, if applicable).
• Current BLS/CPR certification.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR).
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control standard
