Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Medical Assistant Certified to support patient examinations and procedures under clinical leadership. The MA assists with patient care, administrative duties, and ensures compliance with CLIA, HIPAA, and NCQA standards.

The role requires BLS certification, CMA or equivalent certification, and at least 1–2 years of MA experience in a clinic setting. Strong communication and computer skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required or equivalent education.
• Two years of Medical Assistant experience in a clinic/outpatient setting or one year in the Novice-II position is required.
• BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA) certification required.
• Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, NHA or Registered Medical Assistant or EMT certification required.
• CPT – Certified Phlebotomy Technician preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with examinations, procedures, diagnostic studies, and treatment under supervision.
• Perform dressing changes and assist with patient care and safety.
• Schedule patient appointments and verify eligibility for care.
• Maintain accurate medical records and support CLIA/HIPAA compliance.
