Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Clinic Assistant to support physicians and nursing staff in an ambulatory care setting. Under supervision of a Physician and/or licensed nurse, the CA provides direct and indirect patient care, performs laboratory and other testing, and may assist with clerical functions.

Qualifications

• 1+ years recent experience as a clinic assistant or completion of a medically related training program
• Basic Life Support certification within 90 days if hired in NM network; day-one requirement in Academic Medical System
• High school diploma or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient treatments under supervision of a healthcare provider
• Perform basic tasks, screening procedures and specimen collection
• Screen for and communicate changes in patient condition
• Document patient care given
• Maintain equipment and medical supplies including reordering and stocking
• Maintain examination area
• Perform administrative or clerical duties such as filing, scheduling, data entry, billing, and patient registration
• Present a friendly, professional demeanor and appearance
• Refer to Scope of Practice Inventory for RN, LPN, MA and CA as indicated
