Job summary

The Whatcom Family YMCA is seeking a Climbing Wall Staff to support youth programs and safe climbing activities. You will coach youth classes and open climb times, while maintaining a safe wall, ropes, anchors and holds in line with YMCA policies.

Ideal candidates are 18+ with climbing experience, safety knowledge, and a commitment to protecting youth from harm. Join a team dedicated to healthy living and community impact.

Qualifications

• Climbing experience including belaying.
• Knowledge of climbing safety systems and inspections.
• Experience leading youth.
• Child abuse prevention training prior to working shifts.
• Minimum age 18.

Responsibilities

• Coaches and facilitates youth climbing classes and open climb times.
• Maintain a safe climbing environment by monitoring ropes, anchors and holds.
• Be familiar with emergency procedures and respond immediately as required.
• Ensure equipment is clean and prepare for annual safety inspections as needed.
• Keep the gym and gear room clean and organized; follow youth protection policies.
