At Countryside YMCA, our Climbing Wall Attendants keep the energy high and the safety standards higher, guiding members of all ages through the ins and outs of indoor rock climbing.What You'll Be DoingYou'll be the go-to person at the wall — checking gear, running belays, and making sure every climber (first-timer or seasoned pro) has a great, safe experience. Day to day, that looks like:Enforcing climbing wall policies and keeping the space running smoothlyBelaying and spotting climbers, including auto-belay supervisionTeaching YMCA's climbing curriculum to new participantsChecking equipment and the facility at open/close and flagging issues right awayConfirming who's eligible to climb and walking members through harnesses, belay devices, and shoesKeeping attendance logs, equipment inventory, and belay certification records up to dateFilling out required forms and checklists accuratelyKnowing and prepared to execute emergency response proceduresWhat You'll NeedAt least 17 years oldSolid working knowledge of climbing technique, belaying, route ratings, and safety gearCurrent CPR/First Aid and Belay certificationA knack for talking with people of all ages and turning a concern into a resolved issueReliable attendance — the wall needs you thereEmployees 18+ must clear a criminal background checkThe Physical SideExpect to be on your feet, talking and listening a lot, and lifting up to 50 lbs. You'll push, pull, climb, and reach regularly, with occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
