Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Louisville is seeking an Entry Level Part Time Rock Wall Attendant at Floyd County Family YMCA in New Albany, IN 47150. You will assist climbers, belay, and ensure safety protocols are followed.

Strong customer service, a positive attitude, and the ability to work with children and adults are essential. CPR/AED/First Aid training will be provided or updated as needed.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service and verbal skills.
• Experience with rock climbing and belaying.
• Experience working with children and adults.
• CPR/AED/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Uphold the mission of the YMCA with a welcoming, nurturing demeanor.
• Keep people safe and provide courteous attention to members and staff.
• Guide, supervise and belay members on the wall.
• Enforce rock wall rules and ensure liability waivers are completed.
• Complete required abuse risk management training and report concerns.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Uphold the mission of the YMCA, and demonstrate behaviors that reflect a determined, nurturing, genuine, hopeful, and welcoming nature.
• Keep people safe.
• Provide courteous, prompt and sincere attention to members, guests, participants and staff.
• Keep people safe.
• Guide, supervise and belay members/guest on the wall

• Practice appropriate knot tying and harness fitting
• Keep people safe.
• Enforce all rock wall rules and completion of liability waiver
• Keep area safe and clean
• Completes required abuse risk management training. Adheres to policies and procedures related to appropriate boundaries with children. Monitors building, staff and members and reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations to supervisor. Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements to authorities.

• Noise level- High
• Exposure to electrical/mechanical mechanisms

• Experience or familiarity with rock climbing and belaying and it’s procedures

• Core curriculum training
• CPR/AED/First Aid Certification (will train)
• Minimum of 18 years of age
