Job summary

The Workout Club in Londonderry, NH is seeking a part-time Climbing Wall Attendant to help ensure climber safety and friendly guest service. You will greet members, monitor belay systems, and perform daily safety checks on harnesses and gear.

Candidates must read, write and speak English, be able to lift up to 50 lbs, and work days, evenings, and weekends. Reliable transportation is required, and you’ll contribute to a welcoming community at the climbing wall.

Qualifications

• Able to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks.
• Flexible schedule including days, evenings, and weekends.
• Reliable transportation to and from work.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for ensuring safety is always maintained at the Climbing Wall.
• Be willing to have KIND conversations with members and guests who are unwilling to follow safety procedures.
• Enthusiastically greet members and welcome them to the climbing space.
• Have eyes on all members participating in climbing, to the best of their ability, and ensure they are following safety procedures.
• Visually check all member’s harnesses to ensure they are double backed, properly fitted, and are not showing any signs of potential failure.
• Completes daily tasks as they are listed on the task sheet.
• Weekly inspect all rental gear, alerting their supervisor should any gear look compromised.
• Monitor wall systems daily (Top Rope, Auto Belay, etc.) and should they notice any issues, or unusual wear, they let their supervisor know immediately.
• Always strive to build community at the climbing wall, by putting members and guests first daily.

Requirements:

• This position has a variable schedule; the ability to workdays, evenings, and weekends according to the needs of the club is required.
• This position has an inherent amount of physical and mental stress; all candidates must be prepared and capable of adapting to such conditions.
• Able to read, write, and speak clearly in English
• Bending, kneeling, and repetitive arm movement
• Standing for long periods
• Ability to lift and move up to 50lbs
• CWM should be competent in climbing safety, and willing to demonstrate it upon employment
• Reliable transportation to and from work.
