The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a climbing arborist trainee for our on-site team in Wheeling, IL. You’ll learn tree climbing, pruning, and removal basics while working with a crew across residential and commercial sites with a strong emphasis on safety and continuous training.

Starting pay is $20-$23 per hour, with benefits, advancement opportunities, and full safety gear provided. The role offers outdoor work and career development within an employee-owned company.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors and willingness to learn in a physically active role.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights is preferred.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Orientation Program upon hire is required.
• Ability to complete Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving courses upon hire is preferred.

Responsabilités

• Climb and work on trees as part of a crew, learning pruning and removal skills.
• Perform tasks safely and in accordance with industry guidelines and client needs.
• Learn to install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
