Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking an enthusiastic Climbing Arborist Trainee for on-site work in Crystal Lake, IL. You will join a tree care crew, starting with climbing and learning pruning/removal techniques, safety practices, and equipment operation in a hands-on environment.

Starting pay is $20–$23 per hour, with opportunities for advancement as you complete required trainings and gain experience in forestry and horticulture.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors required.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights preferred.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program on hire.
• Ability to complete Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course on hire.
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide licenses/certifications as required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Learn to climb trees and work as part of a tree crew.
• Learn to perform tree pruning and removal safely and skillfully.
• Learn tree identification and pruning guidelines; install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
• Assist in removal of hazardous trees and maintenance of all tools and equipment.
• Grow skills and responsibilities as you progress within the crew.
