Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a climbing arborist trainee to work on-site in Naperville, IL. You’ll join a tree crew and progressively learn climbing and pruning techniques, safety practices, and equipment operation in outdoor environments.

Starting pay is $20–$23 per hour, with benefits and growth opportunities across a nationwide company. Training and certification support are provided as part of our development program.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors is essential.
• Preferred: Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping background or working at heights.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Preferred: pesticide licenses/certificates as required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Learn to climb trees and become a member of a tree crew.
• Progressively learn and perform tree pruning and removal tasks.
• Learn to inspect trees and follow pruning guidelines.
• Assist in installing cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
• Assist in removal of hazardous trees and safely operate tools and equipment.
