Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a dynamic Climbing Arborist to join our outdoor team in Richmond, VA. You’ll work on site performing pruning, removal and related tree care duties, using climbing systems as part of a crew.

Responsibilities include trimming, installing cables and braces, safe operation of chainsaws and equipment, and collaborating with ground crews. Prior forestry-related background and safety training are preferred; training is provided on hire.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Preferred: pesticide licenses and certificates as required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Climb and prune/remove trees safely as part of a crew.
• Operate as an active crew member with ground crew and crew leader.
• Perform tree pruning and removal services including deadwood, canopy work, braces, and lightning protection.
• Maintain, prepare and operate tools and equipment such as chainsaws, chippers and aerial lifts.
• Remove hazardous trees and ensure safety standards are met.
