Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Climbing Arborist Crew Leader at Brush Hog Tree Care Inc. The role requires hands-on work in the San Francisco Bay Area. As a Climbing Arborist Crew Leader, you'll lead a 2-5 person tree care crew while managing safe and productive performance of all aspects of arboriculture, including:

1. Pruning trees
2. Rigging
3. Cabling and bracing
4. Removal of hazardous trees
5. Properly maintaining and operating equipment (hand tools, chainsaws, leaf blowers, chippers, tractor, aerial lifts, etc.)
6. Implementing work zone safety procedures
7. Performing and reporting job-site inspections with proper planning and execution of assigned work and tasks (i.e. daily tailgate safety meetings, job briefings at each job site, etc.)
8. Collaboratively working with Arborist Climbers and Arborist Crew Leaders working on the ground and aloft
9. Tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines
10. Assisting with driving, backing, dumping, and parking duties
11. Mentoring and training employees
12. Traffic and pedestrian control, and other relevant duties as operationally necessary
13. Drive company vehicles and equipment (as needed)
14. Assist aerial workers and tree care crew in all aspects of tree care and removal
15. Able to work with and without direct supervision

This is a senior-level role that reports directly to the General Foreman.

Qualifications

1. A passion for nature, the environment, and love of the outdoors!
2. A positive attitude and ability to participate within a multidisciplinary team.
3. Ability to work year-round in all weather conditions.
4. Required: Valid class C driver’s license with a clean record
5. Required: Minimum 4 years experience in tree care or forestry
6. Preferred: ISA Certified Arborist, ISA Certified Tree Worker, and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional
7. Preferred: Commercial Driver’s License-Class A or B without air brake restriction
8. Preferred: Minimum 2 years of experience operating skid steers or excavators
9. Preferred: Bilingual
10. Preferred: Degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Plant Science, Landscape Management, Environmental Science or a related field
11. Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates
