Job summary

Town of Marblehead is seeking an Energy and Land Use Planner to develop and administer programs advancing energy, climate action, and sustainable land use goals. The role coordinates with Town departments, boards, and stakeholders to implement Net Zero plans, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and promote renewable energy initiatives.

The position involves planning, outreach, budgeting, and collaboration across municipal operations to integrate energy and climate objectives into land use decisions

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, Energy or Environmental Policy, plus at least 3 years of related experience.
• Experience with local, state, and federal environmental regulations is highly desired.
• Experience with public engagement and outreach is highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Implements and advances the Town's Net Zero Implementation Plan and other municipal sustainability, energy, and climate action plans and initiatives.
• Develops and administers programs related to energy efficiency, renewable energy, climate resilience and greenhouse gas reduction.
• Establishes benchmarks and measures to track energy consumption and sustainability performance.
• Researches emerging energy technologies and funding opportunities and makes recommendations to reduce energy use and emissions.
• Collaborates with Town departments and stakeholders to integrate sustainability into planning and land use decisions.
