Job summary

United Nations Foundation is seeking an Associate for Federal & External Affairs within the U.S. Climate Alliance.

This role supports governors’ offices by tracking federal policy developments, advising on opportunities for engagement, drafting federal sections of the alliance newsletter, and managing relations with partner organizations. The position is based in Washington, DC with a hybrid schedule and requires strong research, writing, and briefing skills in climate and energy policy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with relevant work experience required.
  • 2-3 years of experience working on climate and clean energy issues, with past experience around state or federal government preferred.
  • Familiarity with tracking systems and databases (e.g., Microsoft Excel or Airtable) and project management platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Track and analyze federal policy developments with impacts to emissions-reduction and resilience goals.
  • Advise Alliance members on federal actions and opportunities for engagement.
  • Draft and edit federal components of the Alliance’s weekly newsletter.
  • Coordinate with partner organizations and external audiences to ensure a unified message.
  • Develop rollout plans for announcements, newsletters, and events to maximize impact.
  • Maintain databases and distribution lists for partners across the environmental community.
