Job summary

Slingshot is seeking an experienced Community Organizer for New Hampshire and Maine to build leadership and community power in the climate and environmental justice space. You will run workshops, develop campaigns, and cultivate local funder relationships, while advancing equity and organizational growth.

You will travel regionally, engage frontline communities, and contribute to a growing movement with a collaborative, non‑hierarchical team structure.

Qualifications

• At least three years of related work experience, such as community organizing or grassroots campaign coordination.
• A passion for organizing with people as means for change.
• Experience living in or working with people in frontline communities, especially people of color, Indigenous communities, immigrants, and low‑income people.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills–you enjoy spending time with people and building new relationships.
• Strategic thinking and effective facilitation skills.
• Experience with leadership development, preferably training and developing leaders in a grassroots organizing setting.
• Experience with campaign planning and development.
• A passion for racial, economic, and environmental justice and a strong commitment to working for a just, inclusive, and better world.
• Flexibility‑ you’re excited to be a part of a growing organization.
• Interest in sharing responsibility as part of a non‑hierarchical staff structure.
• A driver’s license, preferably with a car you are willing to drive for work.

Responsibilities

• Community organizing workshops and leadership development: craft and facilitate group workshops on core organizing skills and connect with community leaders for coaching.
• Campaign development and strategy: build relationships with leaders in impacted communities and develop strategies to protect health and environment.
• Communications and organizational visibility: work with the communications lead to increase media presence through events, press releases, and online organizing.
• Fundraising: cultivate relationships with local foundations and help write grant applications; deepen connections with NH and ME grassroots donors.
• Organizational development: contribute to the three‑year plan, build organizational structures, and center racial and class equity.
