Responsibilities

  • Oversee supervision of program clients, and facility operations and transportation needs.
  • Monitor clients during shift: counts, check-in/out, and visitor clearance.
  • Maintain a daily activity log including incidents of safety concerns.
  • Respond to after-hours emergencies and coordinate with admin, law enforcement, or medical personnel.
  • Maintain safety and security of the facility and keys during shift.
  • Conduct random and requested drug tests for clients; document shift handoffs and logs.

Founded on the steps of St. John’s Lutheran Church in 1985, Saint John’s Program for Real Change has helped more than 30,000 women and children transform their lives from poverty and dependence to confidence and self-sustainability.

Dedicated to the eradication of homelessness once and for all, this up-to-18-month comprehensive residential program provides families with the tools they need to address the root causes as well as the symptoms of homelessness: mental health therapy, drug and alcohol counseling, life skills classes (anger management, parenting, budgeting, positive thinking, healthy relationships and more), a path to a high school diploma and Employment Training.

The Female Community Reentry Program (FCRP) allows eligible offenders with serious and violent crimes committed to State prison to serve their sentence in the community at a FCRP as designated by the Department, in lieu of confinement in State prison and at the discretion of the Secretary.

The FCRP will provide a range of rehabilitative services that assist with alcohol and drug recovery, employment, education, housing, family reunification, and social support.

About the Position

This position oversees the general supervision of program Clients, program and facility operations and the transportation needs of Clients.

You’ll be responsible for…
  • Monitors clients throughout shift, this includes performing physical counts, checking clients in and out of the facility, and clearing all visitors to the facility.
  • Maintains a daily log of all client activities including any incidents of security or safety nature.
  • Responds to after-hour emergencies which include contacting administration or proper law enforcement or medical personnel.
  • Maintains the safety and security of the facility.
  • Provides security for key control during shift.
  • Conducts random and requested drug tests for Clients.
  • Participate in daily shift exchange including documenting in facility log at the end of each shift and thoroughly reviewing log at the start of each shift.
The candidate must possess knowledge and skills in providing trauma informed and gender responsive services including the following
  • Be able to take trauma into account during the process of interacting with clients.
  • Avoid triggering trauma reactions and/or re-traumatizing Clients.
  • Adjust own behavior and control own feelings to allow Clients to learn how to manage trauma symptoms and be able to benefit from program services.
  • Be proactive in conflict resolution.
  • Other duties may be assigned by management based on business needs.
You must have
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Ability to work well in team environment.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Punctual and good attendance.
  • Effective communication skills including both oral and written form.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be qualified and trained to recognize the symptoms and signs of substance use disorders, have the ability to respond to drug overdose and provide documentation used to meet this requirement within 30 calendar days of hire.
  • A valid California Driver’s License and proof of personal auto insurance is required. Hire is contingent upon agency insurability.
  • Not currently on probation or parole. Must be discharged for at least three years.
  • Must pass a criminal background screening (Live-Scan) and maintain annual CPR certification, First aid certification and Tuberculosis test results.
Physical Requirements
  • Standing/walking approximately 30% and sitting 70% of the time.
  • Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to hear and respond to simple and sometimes critical messages exchanged in noisy/high traffic areas.
  • Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
